| Description: | Chillicothe Elks Lodge will hold its annual Elks Soccer Shoot competition from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm on September 10th on the practice field east of the GHSC fields. This event is sponsored by the Chillicothe Elks Lodge with the assistance of Green Hills Soccer Club, but children DO NOT have to be a participant in the GHSC Soccer Program to participate in the Elks Soccer Shoot. Boys and girls from ages 4-13 are invited by the Elks to compete in four age groups to display their skills in shooting penalty-type shots. This is free and open to all community youth. Boys and girls will compete separately in 4 different age groups. Winners progress through lodge, district, state and regional contests up to the national finals.
The two youngest competing categories (7-year-olds and under, and 8- and 9-year-olds) compete in the Five Goal Contest in which points are awarded by shooting at 5 different sized goals 48", 40", 34", 26", and 17" goals. The contest proceeds from the largest to the smallest goal from a kick line 15’ or 18’ from the goals, with three kicks allowed at each goal.
The two older competing categories, 10- and 11-year-olds and 12- and 13-year-olds, compete in the Grid Goal Contest that consists of a grid attached to a full-size, 24’ soccer goal. Contestants are allowed 15 kicks from the penalty kick spot located 36’ from the center of the goal.
Contestants are only allowed to shoot in one local contest to qualify for District competition so if a player shot in the Trenton Elks competition this summer they will be ineligible to shoot in the Chillicothe Elks Shoot on September 10th.
The District Soccer Shoot for the winners of the local contests will be held at the Chillicothe Elks Lodge on 401 Harvester Road at 1:00 on September 17th.
